I would have wanted to go with the troop when they went there on a Saturday but I have a work deadline to meet that day, so it seemed imperative to stay behind and just go with them in spirit. :-) Although I already knew they're not going to be at the barangay where my dad belongs, I am still very happy because I knew that, with DSWD's assistance, they picked the right barangay with constituents (around 400 recipients) who needed the most help. Anyhow, I was able to take part in the packing of the relief goods and it felt good to have been able to do so knowing that those packs are going to be in the hands of people from my dad's hometown.

Despite the high-magnitude earthquake in the middle of the month, October for me is still not as bad as I thought. Somehow, it's an opportunity to help other people in need and it's also a chance to contemplate on the things that are yet to come.

Use economy mode
Most printer settings will offer you 'economy', 'draft' or 'fast' printing. The quality is slightly lighter and less precise, but it's fine for when you don’t need a perfect presentation copy. It saves on ink, and it's faster too.
Stick to black and white
Even when you’re printing black text, your colour printer mixes in other inks to make the shade. Turn this setting off by choosing 'black' in your printer properties, so you're not needlessly using up colour inks. Consider whether you need a colour printer at all – if what you print is mostly text documents, you could save money by sticking to black and white.
Ignore low-cartridge warnings
Your printer will beep and tell you you're running out of ink, in many cases long before it's actually a problem. Don't override the warning if you have a big, important document to print out, but do be sceptical. You may have weeks of printing left before you need to replace the cartridge.
Preview your documents
To make sure you're only printing what you need, preview your document before you send it to print. Maybe you only need one or two pages of that fifty-page document? Be careful with copies, too – you want to avoid accidentally telling the printer you need 100 copies instead of 10!
Leave your printer on
Every time you turn your printer on, it uses a little bit of ink to warm up. So if you think you're going to be using your printer again soon, it's more economical to leave it on. And never turn off your printer in mid-cycle – the cartridge will stop where it is, wearing out the nozzle and drying up ink.
By bearing in mind some of these tips for saving printer ink in mind, you should be able to make your printing life more economical and save some hard-earned cash.

Taken from my sister-in-law's album, here's a picture of the Chocolate Hills in Bohol that I have been looking forward to see with my own naked eyes:
I also thought it would be nice to dine and sail (and appreciate nature) in a Floating Restaurant and getting serenaded by their own native and talented singers.
Bohol, I feel for you. And it breaks my heart that I have not visited you when you were in your finest.
Hopefully, with media, government and people's help, Bohol and its people can quickly get back on their feet. I really want to be able to help especially that I know some old friends/officemates who got affected by this calamity.

Okay, so at least I finally tried to write and have even finished writing a paragraph. Now I am starting a new one and I don't know how I am even going to end it. What is going on with me again? Haha.. Now I am glancing to my right and I am seeing two of my loved ones already in bed - the other one is snoring. Yeah, I just heard the little girl snore a little! Must be her sleeping position. Now, I ask myself why I am still not asleep at this hour. Well, I just want to keep up with this blog. I want to keep up and catch up with everything. Later, I'm going to catch up on my sleep. Good thing, I don't have work tomorrow. I have every good excuse to stay up late. But there's a pile of laundry to do. There's nothing to complain, though. Life is good. :-)

Haha. This is just a little keepsake photo I took from Mountain View Park where we had a brief outing with husband's family last weekend. While this may not be an uncommon scenario nowadays, we all found this funny because we really thought it was a real security guard sleeping on his job but, as we were able to get a closer look, we realized it's not real. Oopps.. :-)
What to do? They might as well have a photo op with the daysleeper. :-)

We have always known that it's because of God that we're getting help from people at the right time that we needed them. Sometimes, we didn't even have to ask God for these things. Whether these are financial blessings, work opportunities, or some random acts of kindness from people we didn't expect to do them for us, all these just came in perfect timing! This is why nothing worries me that much anymore (although I can't help myself from being emotional sometimes because that's just the way I am). Whatever the future holds – I will keep reminding myself that I should not be shaken and I should not doubt or complain because God is in control. He will guide us to make the right decisions. So, it is only right to seek His guidance and lift everything up to Him. Even if we fail at one point, there may also be a purpose to it. What matters is that we're ready to get up and fight 'til the end.
Drama much? Nah, I'm just writing from the heart. :-)

But don't you just hate it when it's raining and you're still on your way to work? Well, except when you have a car that doesn't get stuck in the flood, going to work when it's raining is really no fun at all, right? It can also be quite a challenge to not get your clothes and your shoes wet. Let's not even talk about the challenge of coming to the workplace on time. Sometimes, it's just too tempting for me to call in sick so I don't have to brave the heavy rain and traffic when coming to the workplace. Yet, I also don't like it when it's raining hard when I am at home because power outage in our area will usually follow. It sucks to be at home with no electricity because we're relying on it for our water utility.
Yes, the rainy days can be such a good thing, although it can be annoying, too. In life, I don't let the annoyance of the rainy days get me. I'll just look forward to the rainbow that follows it.

Good morning. It is going to be a great day today.
Saturday, June 22, 2013
We had a simple celebration of Father's Day last week at home. We grilled one big fish that we had bought from the market. Aside from that, we also had some clams. It was gastronomically satisfying. Unfortunately, I forgot to take some pictures. I'll have to remember to do that next time.
As for my gift for husband, he insisted to have it postponed. Indeed, as of now, we'll do well financially when we put other planned expenses aside. So, I gave him another gift that money can't buy. :-)
Friday, June 14, 2013
My husband has been planning on making kitchen cabinet but he keeps on postponing it because of his busy schedule. Besides, his collection of tools is not enough to build the cabinet. He just found that out when he was browsing some DIY website on the internet. He got almost all the tools mentioned on that particular website except for those drill press accessories which he finds really important to be able to finish the job neatly and efficiently. Since father's day is approaching, I just realized that this would be the perfect gift I can give to him and maybe he can no longer find excuses not to build that cabinet.
Prior to the wedding, they were serenaded by ASAP Sessionistas on ABS-CBN. Isn't it just wonderful to see two people who are in love? You know, love is contagious.

Even though most clients have already elected to receive their bills electronically, it is still a good idea for businesses and companies to send printed bills once in a while so they can include flyers and other forms of marketing related to the product or service they are offering. The physical bill that we usually put on the refrigerator wall should serve as a visual reminder of what we need to pay at a certain date.
1. Recognizing Well-Deserved Employees. Employers must never overlook their employees' good performance. A pat in the back often sends a message that their efforts didn't go unnoticed. More importantly, employees will be encouraged to do their best in the job if they see someone getting recognized or promoted for good performance. After all, nobody wants to get stuck or stagnate in their careers, right? Letting employees know that they are providing incentives for outstanding performers is also one way to motivate them to do even more than what is required of them.
2. Find the Time to Talk to Low-Performers Without Embarrassing Them. While having low-performers in the team can be hugely irritating for employers, it does not give them the right to insult or embarrass them in front of their co-employees. It is always important to deal with the situation in a professional manner. Scheduling a meeting to discuss poor performance with the concerned person should be done. It's good to find out what causes the person to slack in his or her job. Discuss the consequence of poor quality work and what needs to be done to improve it.
3. Establish a Friendly Atmosphere. Maintaining a friendly atmosphere in the workplace is one way to make employees look forward to promptly come to work each day. Once in a while, it is also good to organize a team-building activity for them as this can help create or develop that friendly rapport among them. Team-building activities can be in the form of simple coffee sessions, beach outings, outdoor seminars or office tournaments.
The goals of a business or company are often met because, among other things, they have what it takes to succeed – employees with the right drive and motivation to do things right in the workplace.

the happiest moment with mom
Losing my mom was perhaps the most painful experience I've encountered so far in my life. I thought I still had a lot of time to be with her. I thought there's still time for her to be able to hold and cuddle her very first granddaughter. Unfortunately, God took her away from me just barely two months after my wedding. Oh, you can just imagine the extreme shift of emotions I had from the time of our wedding and the time when we lost her. Anyhow, time has it's own way of letting us cope with the pain of losing someone you really love. As the years went by, I have learned to embrace the fact that she's happier somewhere up there and that I should be happy as well because she didn't suffer long enough from her sickness. And although she's not physically here now, I can still connect to her when I think of her and the mother-daughter moments we had when she was alive. I miss all those moments with mommy because I can tell her almost anything. As for other things, she would look them up on my diary. :-) Oh mom, you can sneak up on every bit of my life now without having to read parts of my blog or my diary.

Still, it is important to point out that faultless eye make-up mainly hinges on the brand of cosmetic you are using. Listed below are the four different types of eye shadows available in the market:
- Dry eye shadow.
- Liquid eye shadow.
- Shadow pencil eye shadow.
Before applying eye shadow, it is crucial that you prepare your eyes by making use of tonal ointments or paint pen. By doing so, you will be able to effortlessly conceal pigment spots as wells as the circles round your eyes. The tonal cream can be applied by making use of your fingertips so that you can evenly spread the cream round the corners of your eyes. If you would like your eye shadow to last for prolonged periods of time, then it is highly recommended that you utilize a base application.
If you desire a style make-up, then you will need to add eyeliner. Eyeliners can be used as substitutes for dark shadows. When applying eyeliner, you need to try as much as possible to achieve a continuous and flawless line close to the eye lashes. The application should be done from the inner corner to the outer corner of the eyes. You can also enhance the shade by making use of your fingertips or cotton swabs.
A beautiful and striking eye make-up ought to comprise of different shades. There are different ways through which you can achieve this, for example, you can choose to go with the classic color scheme which basically comprises of three different colors. Then again, when applying the different shades, you should try and use light colors at the base of the eye and dark shades at the upper part of the eye.
The technical aspect of eye shadow application is the other factor that you need to take into consideration when learning how to apply eye shadows. Even distribution of the different shades is required in order to avoid the formation of spots. This can be done by making use of a makeup brush. When holding the makeup brush, the flat part should be held close to the edge. Moreover, brush movements ought to be smooth. You can also achieve an intense color by blending different shades.
Once you are through with the application, remember to screen the shadow. This can be achieved by making use of a light and soft brush.
When selecting a color scheme to apply, it is also crucial to take into consideration the colors of your eyes as well as the hues of the clothes you are wearing. If you have sagging eyelids, you can add emphasis by making use of pearlescent shadows. Then again, you can achieve the same effects by making use of Matt shadows. Don't forget to choose a safe cosmetics, it's not so easy as it may looks like on first sight, so read guidelines before shopping http://wikitalks.com/category/articles/fashion-beauty/makeup-cosmetics/
You can also choose to adjust or add emphasis to the natural colors of your eyes by making use of techniques known as shading and lighting. On the other hand, if you would like to add clarifications, use simple colors like pale lilac, white, pastel pink, ivory, light gray and light beige.
Dark colors can be darkened by making use of colors such as apricot, olive green, dark brown, gold, black-purple and green.
When shopping for the right eye shadow color, it is crucial that you take into consideration the complexion of your skin. While most people tend to select eye shadow color hinging on the color of their outfits, it's best to select a color that matches your skin.

I don't have any idea what Dalaguete is like and I don't know yet which specific beach resort we would go but I heard that there are a lot of beautiful beaches there. Hopefully, we would find that out on Saturday when we get to in-laws' place. Hmmm, I had better check if my batteries for the camera can handle all the shots that I am planning to take on that day. I want to make sure I would be able to capture the beauty of the place and the fun moments with family.

She started to become interested to write when she saw her classmates doing the same thing. She also likes it that she gets to wear her dresses to school; although it is such a struggle for her to wake up early. Not really the morning type of person. Anyway, waking up early is a form of discipline for her. Hopefully, she'll get used to the routine.

Indeed, the world is filled with so many problems - many of which are the consequences of indecision or wrong decisions. However, it is also true that it is through mistakes that we can all learn from, become better persons and succeed in life. Still, I don't believe that the success we are getting in life can be solely attributed through our own efforts. Ultimately, we owe our success to God so that we may use it according to His will. Sometimes, too, failure and setbacks are God's manifestation of His existence - that we may never forget that there is a God who can lift us up and help us through life's difficulties. Without Him in our lives, success is meaningless and ultimate happiness, personal fulfillment and peace can never be achieved.

I think this print business is something that I want to do in the near future. Hopefully, the husband will think the same way so I can start checking out what it takes to successfully carry out a business of this nature.
My feelings as a proud mom didn't change even if I did realize later that most kids got the same star on their wrists. :-)
I know she is supposed to have all fun and play during this period but we think it would be a great help for her that she has a good idea on what it will be like come school opening. Anyhow, it is just for one month. The rest of the coaching and getting her primed up for Kindergarten school will still come from us. So, we are now working on making our work schedule a little less stressful for us and for our kid. Between me and my husband, though, I am the one who gets more excited for her. Or so I thought. After all, I am "The Mom". :-)

Singing, as we know, is really one good form of exercise for the lungs. It is also an activity that creates good bonding for the family and makes any boring day fun, lively and entertaining. I am very happy that this is one of those pastimes that husband, daughter and I can do together.
Anyway, we didn't really throw her a children's party. After all, everyone else is working. Thus, husband and I decided to just celebrate it the simplest way we could. That day started by going to church to attend the thanksgiving mass we offered on the occasion of her birthday. At home, I just cooked spaghetti and ordered a birthday cake for her.
As our birthday present, we bought her a kiddie bike - something she had been asking for the last three months. She was so happy that she didn't forget to thank us for the gift.

Though stretch marks generally appear as a result of sudden weight loss, pregnancy, hormonal changes or aging, its existence can still be prevented. As a phrase says, "prevention is better than cure", there are actually a lot of things one can do to prevent these marks from coming.
The key to maintaining a healthy skin is to have it moisturized. Taking at least 8 glasses of water every day helps reduce the possibility of the appearance of these marks. Dryness contributes to tearing of tissues which you may not want to happen. While, if skin is moisturized, tearing may not be that possible.
But if you have got the problem already, there are also simple solutions that you can just follow. Solutions including diet modification and some routines can be done to gradually let these marks disappear. There are also procedures which work faster in making the skin return to its non-stretched state.
Salons offer a new and advanced way to get rid of stretch marks especially those on the thighs and legs. There is what is called the laser therapy that is applied on the surface of the skin in order to reduce the presence of the white streaks caused by the stretching of connective tissues. There is a need to come back to the salon for sessions in order to complete the whole process.
One of the fastest ways to get rid of the marks is through plastic surgery. The affected area is tucked to come back to its original form with the absence of marks. As you might expect, this will cost a lot.
If you do not have the budget to undergo plastic surgery, you may just choose the natural ways to clear your legs from the presence of stretch marks. The only drawback is that you need to be patient because the results will not just appear overnight.
Stuff your diet with foods rich in vitamins A and E. These vitamins have anti-oxidant properties which tend to sweep away the toxins that are accumulated inside the body. Once the body is cleared from the harmful effects of toxins, it will reveal a healthy skin. And a healthy skin would entail a skin that would resist tearing should the body tend to stretch.
Body wraps will also help. Having these wraps would help the body improve its circulation and so healing will be faster on the area affected by stretch marks. There are wraps containing already oils that help hasten the process of healing as it serves to lock in moisture in skin.
Circulation is really something vital in the process. This just induces faster recovery for the skin. Another form of routine that you can do to promote circulation is through the use of steam baths. Visiting the sauna every week will promote circulation especially on the leg area. With this, the skin can heal faster. Technically, the healing process is not that painful but there is still a need for the skin to heal by gradually letting the skin tighten thus removing the marks. You can also read some advices and recipes (from real people, it's important) about beauty and handmade makeup to find out how to get rid of stretch marks http://wikitalks.com/category/articles/fashion-beauty/
Massage is also one of the most effective ways to get that stretch marks fading. Massage legs with your choice of essential oils so that you will get the best results. Not only will it promote circulation on the area which is vital for the process of getting the skin tightened, it will also leave skin smooth.
Get best results by practicing the routines regularly. This would facilitate continuous healing that may aide much in hastening the process. This is applicable to home remedies. But if you would prefer to undergo clinical procedures, you need to follow sessions that would ask you to pay a certain price. It will cost you a lot yet you are assured that the process is faster and that you will achieve results.

Still, I know the Lord has been helping me all throughout this journey. Through our Zumba sessions in the neighborhood, He has helped me gain new friends with similar goals and interest as mine. Although I wouldn't be able to join them for awhile due to a change in my work schedule, I know I can always join them anytime my schedule permits me to.

To be honest, my urinary incontinence experience came to a point that I had to rely on these diapers and nappies for adults for awhile but after following a few exercises (Kegel exercises) that can help strengthen the muscles in my pelvic area, I was able to manage it well. Of course, it was not like I have totally dealt with it or gotten rid of it completely because there are still times (although not very often) that I would get a surprise flow when I find something too amusing and can't control my laughter. That's when these diapers or nappies can come in really handy. I realized I might as well wear one especially when I know I would be engaged in a fun conversation with friends during parties or when I would go on a long travel. How about you? How are you holding up? :-)
By the way, I also find these disposable ones helpful especially during heavier days of my period. There is this feeling of security on my part when I use them during Day 2 of my period instead of my regular pads. Ooopps, that was supposed to be a secret!:-)

We are getting ready to attend a debut party.
Eight years later, I remembered the last time I needed to wear something formal was the time I played the role of maid of honor for a friend's wedding. At that time, the bride-to-be gave me the freedom to decide what I should wear and how I should look as long as I follow the theme of the wedding. The pressure was left on me to decide on the design and this was something I found difficult to do at that time. Anyhow, a visit to a certain dress shop had ended my ordeal because they had an in-house designer. I was given a lot of options for designs that best suit my physique. I think I looked good in that dress during the wedding but you should know that it took me several trips before I was able to find the perfect dress shop that can accommodate a poor dresser like me.
Today, I realized I would have been able to save a few bucks if I had bought something ready-made. Those trips I mentioned to find the right designer who can commit to a certain deadline ate up a lot of my time because most of them were already booked for the month. So, if I were to do it all over again and given that the element of time pressure is present, I would probably have chosen to buy a ready-made formal dress online since the delivery is practically within 5 to 7 days. With that, I would still have ample time for some minor adjustments/fixes on the dress, if there is any. The good thing about buying online is that there are plenty of great designs to choose from and they also come in a variety of shades and sizes. In fact, when you visit MissesDressy.com for Beautiful Evening Gown Dresses right now, for example, it is likely that you will find the dress that you need as well as the size and color that should best match the motif of a wedding or any themed function or occasion. Moreover, you can also expect these dresses to come in various price ranges; so, it shouldn't be hard to choose something that is well within the budget range. If you ask me, below are just some of the dresses I found at the Misses Dressy site that I would be happy to wear.
I believe these designs are timeless and have that touch of elegance.

Happy Valentine's Day to all!
Tuesday, February 12, 2013
Anyway, above is a picture of my daughter at a store, standing behind a couple of drums for sale.
Today, Tuesday is going to be more than just a day after Monday. :-)LOL. Seriously, today is the schedule of our annual physical exam at work and I am not really excited about it because I'm still scared of needles. Haha! I've been through a major surgery before. Now I wonder why I'm still scared of the usual blood extraction routine. Anyway, I have already conditioned my mind about this. I know I am braver than this. Hopefully, I'll get this over and done with today. This is nothing compared to what I have already been through.
Tuesday is going to be fine.
On another note, I felt sad when I learned yesterday that a friend of mine is at the hospital. This woman is a whole lot braver than I am. I hope to be able to visit her after work today. She's been in and out of the hospital lately. I hope and pray that the Lord will restore her and give her complete healing.
