I think you were a typical teenager and since your mom used this as a funny memory it shows that she fully understood that! What a great example she was to you, that you can now pass on to your little girl. She is definitely up in heaven smiling at you and proud of you! I enjoyed reading this story and seeing the picture of you when you were a freshman!

You don't realize the sacrifices your parents made when you're young; we simply think of our own selfish needs until we're mature enough to think of others, right? I think your mom did a wonderful thing for you and the shoes. It's such a touching and endearing story about what your mom went through just to make sure you didn't go to school with worn shoes. I know you'd do the same for your daughter too.

When Dipx2 gets older, make sure you share this story with her. ;)

while i was reading mommy Diana's journal jo, i was reminiscent of my past. i was already in 4th year HS when my parents bought me a brand spanking new pair of black Bandolino leather shoes. but before that, me and my sister Jingle used to wear either second hand or worn-out shoes with obvious holes in the soles or even like what your mom did, my mom had one pair dyed to black for my sister when she was in Grade 6. my sister and i only had 1 year of age difference so you see we both have the same needs at the same time, so it must have been very hard for my mom who's just a housewife and my dad who was a jeepney driver back then to give us what we need for school.

i always tell our youngest sister that she's lucky, cause she has never experienced what me and Jingle have been through while we were still studying. she changes school shoes and school bags every semester (she's in college now). we try to be supportive. as long as we can afford it, we try to give it to her cause we've been on very difficult times back then, and we know it was not easy.

LOL...sorry I'm late on my response. I actually enjoyed reading these tidbits. I don't have much to add, since I'm no relationship expert / guru, but I can't think of anything else to add to your list! Hmmm...all I can think of is that a girl who has self-esteem without being overly arrogant is attractive. At least, if I was a guy, that's what I'd like about a girl who was a bit forward in relationships.

Everything you mentioned in your post are all positive points. May I give my two cents worth of opinion regarding the subject matter here? A girl should not openly show that she cares for the guy because that will make her lose her mystery as far as the guy is concerned. Guys treat courting and interacting with girls as an adventure or a quest. The more they cannot get the girl at once, the more they crave for the girl. What the girl should do is just drop hints of her probable intentions or feelings without being too open about it. A girl who openly profess her intentions for a boy will lose the mystery and the challenge that boys seek after. But girls must psychologize the boy for what he is. If he is the mama's boy type, then he wants to be handled around like a prized teddy bear. He will appreciate aggressive girls. But most boys will always prefer that they will be the ones to pursue their "prey." Parang walang challenge sa guys kung ang babae mismo ang gagawa nang first move. Kailangan swabe lang at coy. I have heard that the soul often has a feeling when it is time to leave our bodies. It still scares me, though, not knowing when my time will be because I still have so much more I want to do. And, I especially don't want to lose anyone that I love! But I know that I am not the one in charge so I just have to trust that God knows the best time for people to go, even if it doesn't match up with what I'd prefer.
